Home/K-Antiaging Community/Facelift for Women in Their 40s–50s: How Noticeable Are Ear Front/Back Minimal‑Incision Scars? Gangnam Facelift Review

A detailed guide to scar location, size, and recovery for facelift patients in their 40s–50s

My mom has always loved beauty and self‑care. She previously had cheekbone reduction surgery, and later underwent a fat graft because nasolabial folds appeared. She has always been interested in facial improvements.

As she got older, facial sagging became more noticeable, and it made her feel upset. When I asked her about lifting procedures, she said she wanted a firm, tight result.

So I naturally thought of a facelift. While researching, I found a well‑known clinic in Apgujeong, so we booked a consultation and visited together.

✔ Mom’s facial condition & recommended procedures

The doctor explained everything very thoroughly.

He said:

  • Her eyebrows had slightly descended
  • Her jawbone was somewhat retruded → causing overall sagging
  • She had a bit of fat along the jawline
  • Her facial structure was suitable for a facelift

Although she didn’t have much facial fat, she had some along the jawline, so the doctor recommended facelift + jawline liposuction.

She also wanted a philtrum reduction. The doctor said 6 mm was possible and explained that the upper lip would lift slightly, making the lower lip more visible. He recommended adding filler to the lower lip.

I appreciated that he only recommended what was necessary, with no over‑treatment.

✔ Scar explanation – minimal incision around the ears

This was the part my mom worried about most.

The doctor explained:

  • Incisions are made along the front and back of the ear
  • Minimal‑incision technique hides scars naturally in the hairline and ear crease
  • Initial redness fades over time
  • Major swelling lasts 2–3 weeks

This explanation reassured her a lot.

✔ Eye concerns → Forehead lift instead of eyelid correction

During the consultation, my mom asked:

“Can eyelid correction fix my sharp‑looking eyes?”

The doctor said eyelid correction might make her eyes look even sharper, and recommended a forehead lift instead for a softer eye expression.

So she decided on:

Facelift + jawline liposuction + philtrum reduction + forehead lift

✔ One‑month update – very satisfied

It’s been about a month since the surgery, and she’s extremely satisfied.

  • Overall sagging improved
  • Wrinkles tightened
  • Eye expression softened
  • More youthful appearance
  • No more sighing in front of the mirror

She finally got the “tight, youthful face” she wanted, and I’m so happy for her.

The consultation was kind and thorough, and the doctor explained everything clearly. Even during follow‑ups, he checked carefully, making us feel we chose the right place.

✔ Conclusion: If you’re in your 40s–50s and worried about minimal‑incision scars, a consultation is worth it

For people in their 40s–50s, eyebrow drooping, jawline sagging, and cheek sagging often appear together.

So facelift + necessary additional procedures can give the most reliable rejuvenation.

If you want:

  • Firm lifting
  • Minimal‑incision scars
  • Natural youthful results

Gangnam/Apgujeong clinics are definitely worth considering.
